Now, let’s talk about how you can switch things up with this recipe to create your own custom twist on it. There are many ways you can modify this jalapeño and lime hummus recipe according to your own taste preferences, dietary restrictions or ingredient availability.

For starters, If you’re not a fan of spicy food, you might want to reduce the amount of jalapeño or even leave out the seeds as they add most of the heat. On the other hand, if you’re looking for an extra fiery kick, consider adding more than one jalapeño pepper.

Similarly, if you want a little more garlic flavor in your hummus – go for it! You could also try roasting the garlic ahead of time to mellow its intensity.

If tahini isn’t readily available or you’re allergic to sesame seeds, try substituting it with roasted almond butter. It has similar texture and rich taste that complements well with chickpeas.

Additionally, if cilantro is not your thing, replace it with parsley or basil. Cilantro Jalapeño hummus doesn’t have to mean using only these two ingredients – consider adding roasted red peppers or sun-dried tomatoes for an extra layer of flavor.

You can also experiment with the liquid ingredients: try swapping out some of the water with lemon juice or orange juice, or even unsweetened almond milk to add creaminess without dairy. Just don’t forget to adjust salt and spice levels accordingly as liquids can impact them!

The other modification option is toppings – hummus is one versatile dip that can be garnished with anything from roasted pine nuts and paprika and chopped fresh vegetables such as tomato, bell pepper and cucumber or even sliced pickled jalapenos,

The options are truly endless – challenge yourself by creating several variations at once and serve them together for a fun twist on traditional hummus!

At the end of the day, there is no right way to make jalapeño lime hummus; it’s just important to have fun and enjoy experimenting with flavors until you find what works best for your palate.

Once you have prepared this delicious jalapeno and lime hummus, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. This recipe also freezes beautifully! Just transfer the hummus to a resealable freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months.

When reheating hummus, there are a few things to keep in mind. If the hummus has separated or become too thick after being stored, you can add a little water or olive oil to help thin it out and restore its smoothness before reheating. To reheat, simply place the desired amount of hummus into a microwave-safe dish and microwave it for about 30 seconds or until heated through.

If you prefer not to use a microwave, you can also gently heat it on the stovetop over low-medium heat, stirring constantly until warmed through. Adding a teaspoon or two of water or olive oil while heating up will help to restore its creamy texture.

Tips for Perfect Results

A spicy twist on the classic hummus recipe.
A spicy twist on the classic hummus recipe.

Now that you have the ingredients and recipe for jalapeno and lime hummus, it’s time to focus on some key tips to ensure that you create a perfect dish each time. These tips will guide you through every step of the way, ensuring that you end up with a delicious dip.

Firstly, it is recommended to use fresh lime juice, as it brings out the flavor of the hummus. If you’re using bottled lime juice, then make sure it is not too old (check expiration date). The same goes for your tahini – make sure that it’s not expired as well. Using new, fresh tahini will produce a smoother hummus.

Secondly, we all have different preferences for salt levels in our food. To avoid over or under-salting your hummus, mix in half of the amount of salt first and taste-test before adding more if needed. You can always add more salt later but it’s tougher to reduce the overall salt flavor once it’s in there.

Thirdly, while processing your ingredients, note that blending at high speeds causes heat which can result in a thinner or runny dip when serving. Start by pulsing your mixture to allow your processor/mixer to aerate the hummus which results in a thicker and smooth consistency.

Fourthly, we want to avoid an excess of water or oil when mixing up our jalapeno and lime hummus recipe. Start with less oil and water than what is specified in the recipe because you can always add more if needed. Keep checking consistency while blending until you achieve your desired thickness.

Lastly, combining cilantro jalapeno isn’t mandatory for this jalapeno and lime hummus recipe – experiment with different types of herbs like basil or thyme to create your own specialty blend! With these tips in mind, this exciting twist on classic hummus guacamole will be easy-peasy perfection!

Bottom Line

And there you have it, the perfect recipe for jalapeno and lime hummus! I can confidently say this is one of my all-time favorite recipes. It’s easy to make, delicious, and has just the right amount of spice to make things interesting.

Jalapeno and Lime Hummus

Jalapeno and Lime Hummus Recipe

With store bought hummus, the quantity is small and prices are high... plus I like to be able to control the ingredients, so I adapted this recipe from ingredient labels. Please note that I use Bertolli Extra Light "Tasting" olive oil for the mild flavor. This hummus will taste significately different if you use Extra Virgin Olive Oil and I don't recommend it... unless you like the strong taste. If you don't have a Kitchen Aide Garlic Press, I highly recommend one... I bought mine at Fry's Electronics... it is easy to use and clean. This Jalapeno and Lime Hummus is great as a dip, on pita or as a sandwich spread.
